Author Meets Readers

Spent an enjoyable few hours last Saturday at Rother Books, Battle talking to readers about the political and social conditions of late 18th Century London that often led to  rioting. And it was these conditions that form the background to my latest novel, Virginia Street

Interest in the book was high despite the fact that it represents a  departure (albeit temporary) from the Tom Pascoe series.  It tells the story of a priest in the east end of London whose complicated life is suddenly made worse when a man confesses to a murder for which another man is to hang. Bound by the seal of the confessional, the priest must decide if . he is to remain silent or not. The choice is not an easy one and upon it depends his life and that of a man wrongly found guilty.
